EllisDon is excited to share we’ve poured the concrete deck of the new Porcupine River Bridge.

Construction on a replacement bridge began in early 2024. This is an important milestone as it offers nearby communities a more direct route into Timmins, as well as a more scenic route for other communities. It will also significantly reduce traffic on Carrigan Road, the alternate route for traffic, as the bridge was reconstructed under the full closure of the roadway.

Key project highlights include:

• The new bridge will span 48 metres over the Porcupine River in Porcupine, ON, near Timmins
• The new bridge consists of two semi-integral concrete abutments (h-pile foundation and bedrock)
• The abutments were uniquely designed to fit the existing bedrock profiles and only used the h-pile foundation due to a steep drop off of bedrock on one side.
• It consists of structural steel I girders, a thin slab concrete deck and metal traffic barrier railings
• The construction timeline considered the nesting season of migratory birds and scheduled in-water work restrictions

The Porcupine River Bridge is the latest addition to EllisDon's robust portfolio of infrastructure projects, updated to meet contemporary standards and building codes. This project highlights our dedication to providing communities with the strong, modern roads and bridges that keep us connected.
